    The HH4500 is a two-electrode conductivity sensor series designed for continuous measurement from low-conductivity water through medium-conductivity process liquids. Four configurations are available, with each using an appropriate cell constant and transmitter range for its intended measurement interval.

    The sensor applies an electrical excitation between two electrodes and measures the resulting conductance of the liquid. The configured cell constant converts this conductance into conductivity. Selecting the correct cell constant is important: a configuration optimized for pure water is not automatically suitable for the entire 0.01 to 20,000 μS/cm combined range.

    The measuring structure uses 316L stainless steel for the housing and electrode surfaces, providing mechanical strength and compatibility with many water-treatment applications. The complete wetted-material construction—including electrical insulators, seals, and cable entry—must still be checked against the process chemistry.

    Optional NTC, Pt100, and Pt1000 temperature elements allow the sensor to supply process-temperature data to a compatible conductivity transmitter. The transmitter must use an appropriate compensation model for the actual water chemistry because pure water, salts, acids, alkalis, and mixed industrial water do not share one universal temperature coefficient.

    With a standard 60 mm insertion depth, G3/4 process connection, integrated cable, and IP68-rated construction, the HH4500 can be configured for compatible pipeline, flow-through, or immersion installations.

    These application directions are preliminary. The actual cell constant, transmitter capability, temperature model, process composition, and expected normal value should determine the selected version.

    Measurement and installation notes

    For low-conductivity water, keep the flow cell and piping clean and prevent air ingress, carbon-dioxide absorption, stagnant water, and contamination from unsuitable tubing or fittings. Small amounts of contamination can substantially change the reading.

    For higher-conductivity media, two-electrode sensors can be affected by electrode polarization. Confirm that the selected cell constant and transmitter excitation method are suitable for the expected range.

    Deposits on the electrode surface change the effective cell geometry and can cause measurement error. Conductive deposits may increase the reading, while insulating scale or coatings may reduce it.

    Temperature compensation must be matched to the sample. A linear salt-solution coefficient should not automatically be used for high-purity water or chemically specific process liquids.

    Long cables can add electrical capacitance and affect low-conductivity measurements. Confirm the 30-metre option with the intended transmitter and required measurement range.
