- Ask a Question
The HH2800C is a combination pH electrode developed for high-temperature process liquids whose chemical composition can contaminate the reference system, alter the liquid-junction potential, or shorten the operating life of a conventional high-temperature electrode.
Its distinguishing feature is a customized SRG polymer-gel intermediate electrolyte selected according to the intended process chemistry. This allows the reference system to be configured for challenging aqueous media containing high salt concentrations, dissolved metals, organic matter, ammonium compounds, proteins, dyes, or other process contaminants.
The HT pH-sensitive glass membrane supports measurement across pH 0–14 at operating temperatures up to 130 °C. A double-junction reference system adds a second separation barrier between the process and internal reference element, while the standard porous-ceramic junction maintains ionic contact with the sample.
For different process conditions, the junction can be configured with dual or triple ceramic points or a ring-shaped PTFE design. The appropriate arrangement should be selected according to the sample’s solids content, viscosity, fouling tendency, flow conditions, and cleaning method.
The HH2800C uses a PG13.5 process connection and is available in insertion lengths from 120 to 425 mm. Multiple connector and temperature-sensor configurations support integration with compatible inline, immersion, and retractable process assemblies.
Key benefits
- Designed for complex high-temperature media: Intended for chemically challenging aqueous processes operating at temperatures up to 130 °C.
- Application-specific SRG electrolyte: The intermediate electrolyte can be selected according to the sample composition.
- HT glass membrane: Formulated for pH response in elevated-temperature process liquids.
- Double-junction reference: Adds a second barrier between the process and internal reference element.
- Configurable process junction: Single-, dual-, or triple-point ceramic and ring-shaped PTFE options are available.
- Flexible process integration: PG13.5 connection with insertion lengths from 120 to 425 mm.
- Multiple transmitter interfaces: Several connector and integrated temperature-sensor options are available.
Configuration options
- Application-specific electrolyte: SRG formulation selected according to principal ions, concentration, organic content, and expected contaminants.
- Insertion length: Selectable from 120 to 425 mm.
- Junction configuration: Single-, dual-, or triple-point porous ceramic, or ring-shaped PTFE junction.
- Connector configuration: Multiple detachable cable and connector formats are available.
- Extended cable: Cable lengths up to 60 metres, subject to transmitter and installation compatibility.
- Integrated temperature sensor: Selectable NTC, Pt100, and Pt1000 options.
Application and selection notes
Before configuration, provide the expected pH range, temperature profile, pressure, principal ions, salt concentration, dissolved metals, organic or protein content, suspended solids, cleaning chemicals, and possible contaminants.
An application-specific electrolyte can improve suitability for the intended medium, but it does not make the electrode maintenance-free. Protein-rich, oily, dye-containing, crystallizing, or solids-heavy samples may still require frequent inspection and cleaning.
High-salinity samples can produce significant liquid-junction potentials. Passing a standard buffer calibration does not confirm measurement accuracy under the actual process chemistry; verification under representative online conditions is recommended.
Avoid rapid transitions between hot process liquid and cold calibration or cleaning solutions. Thermal shock can damage the glass membrane and seals even when both temperatures are individually within the rated range.
Compatibility with solvents, concentrated acids or alkalis, oxidants, chlor-alkali media, and ammonium solutions must be assessed using the complete composition, concentration, temperature, exposure time, and wetted-material construction.
The 6 bar rating should not be assumed across the entire temperature range. Confirm the limits of the electrode, process holder, seals, connector, and cable assembly at the maximum operating temperature.
