- Ask a Question
The HH6000 is a membrane-based electrochemical dissolved oxygen electrode developed for wastewater, aquaculture, municipal water, natural water, and water-treatment equipment.
Its electrolyte is supplied as a solidified gel within a sealed membrane assembly. Unlike conventional serviceable electrodes that require periodic electrolyte refilling and membrane-cap replacement, the HH6000 is designed to reduce routine on-site servicing. The electrode still requires inspection, surface cleaning, calibration checks, and eventual replacement when its response no longer meets the application requirements.
A protected mesh-and-membrane structure helps shield the oxygen-permeable membrane from direct bubble impact and incidental mechanical contact. The membrane must nevertheless remain clean and intact because deposits, biofilm, oil, scale, scratches, or trapped gas can change oxygen transfer and affect the measurement.
The sensor covers dissolved oxygen concentrations from 0 to 40 mg/L and saturation values up to 400%. An integrated NTC 22K temperature element supplies the temperature input required by a compatible dissolved oxygen transmitter.
The HH6000 uses a stainless-steel housing, standard 120 mm insertion depth, PG13.5 process connection, and S8M connector. It is intended for use with a compatible transmitter that provides the required electrode excitation, reads the nanoampere-level signal, and performs the necessary temperature, calibration, and saturation calculations.
Key benefits
- Reduced routine servicing: Sealed gel construction eliminates routine electrolyte refilling under normal use.
- Protected membrane assembly: Mesh structure helps reduce direct bubble impact on the sensing membrane.
- Broad measurement coverage: Supports readings up to 40 mg/L and 400% oxygen saturation.
- Integrated temperature measurement: NTC 22K element provides temperature data for compatible compensation.
- Process-ready construction: PG13.5 connection and IP68 housing support compatible immersion and inline installations.
- Stainless-steel body: Provides mechanical durability in chemically compatible water systems.
- Customizable installation: Insertion depth and cable length can be adapted to the process assembly.
Configuration options
- Insertion depth: Custom lengths are available for compatible holders and process assemblies.
- Extended cable: Cable lengths up to 30 metres, subject to transmitter compatibility and signal performance.
- Installation assembly: Compatible immersion, flow-through, and retractable holders can be selected according to the process.
- Transmitter matching: Confirm excitation, input range, temperature-element compatibility, connector wiring, and calibration functions.
Measurement and maintenance notes
“Reduced maintenance” does not mean that the electrode can be operated without inspection. Check the membrane surface for deposits, biological growth, oil, scale, damage, and trapped bubbles, and verify the reading at an interval appropriate to the process.
The sensor’s service life depends on temperature, oxygen exposure, wastewater composition, fouling, cleaning, flow, pressure, and storage. A one- to two-year period should be presented as a target or typical interval only when supported by defined operating conditions.
Membrane-based dissolved oxygen electrodes may require adequate sample movement because oxygen is consumed at the sensing surface. Confirm the minimum flow requirement and avoid stagnant pockets or installation locations where bubbles accumulate.
A reading in percent saturation depends on temperature, atmospheric or process pressure, and—where relevant—salinity. The transmitter must apply the appropriate compensation inputs.
For trace dissolved oxygen or tightly controlled process applications, check whether the stated ±0.3 mg/L accuracy and <0.1 mg/L zero drift are sufficient. These specifications may be appropriate for wastewater aeration but not for low-µg/L boiler or power-plant water.
The stainless-steel grade, membrane, mesh, seals, gel, connector, and cable jacket must all be checked for compatibility with acids, alkalis, oxidants, solvents, cleaning chemicals, and elevated temperatures.
