- Ask a Question
The HH2800 is a combination pH electrode designed for continuous measurement in high-temperature aqueous processes. Its HT pH-sensitive glass membrane and heat-resistant SRG polymer-gel electrolyte support operation at temperatures up to 130 °C within the specified pressure and installation limits.
A dual-junction reference system adds a second separation barrier between the process liquid and internal reference element. This construction helps slow the migration of contaminants, while the special multi-porous ceramic junction provides multiple ionic contact paths between the reference electrolyte and sample.
The reinforced HT membrane measures across pH 0–14 and is intended to balance high-temperature response with mechanical durability. As with all glass electrodes, it must still be protected from direct impact, excessive tightening, thermal shock, and abrasive process flow.
The HH2800 uses a PG13.5 process connection and can be supplied in insertion lengths from 120 to 425 mm. Multiple detachable connectors and integrated temperature sensors are available for integration with compatible process transmitters, immersion holders, flow-through chambers, and retractable assemblies.
For hygienic, fermentation, CIP, SIP, or autoclave applications, the complete electrode configuration must be reviewed. Temperature resistance alone does not establish hygienic compliance, sterilization compatibility, cleanability, or a guaranteed number of sterilization cycles.
Key benefits
- High-temperature process measurement: Specified for continuous operation at temperatures up to 130 °C.
- HT pH glass membrane: Formulated for pH response in elevated-temperature aqueous processes.
- Heat-resistant SRG electrolyte: Supports reference-system operation under elevated thermal conditions.
- Dual-junction reference: Adds a second barrier between the process and internal reference element.
- Multi-porous ceramic junction: Provides multiple ionic contact paths with the process sample.
- Flexible process integration: PG13.5 connection with insertion lengths from 120 to 425 mm.
- Optional fermentation membrane: HB glass is available for specified fermentation applications.
Configuration options
- Insertion length: Selectable from 120 to 425 mm according to the process holder and required immersion depth.
- HB fermentation membrane: Available for specified fermentation and biotechnology processes.
- Connector configuration: Multiple detachable cable and connector formats are available.
- Extended cable: Cable lengths up to 60 metres, subject to transmitter and installation compatibility.
- Integrated temperature sensor: Selectable NTC, Pt100, and Pt1000 options.
- Process assembly: Holder, seals, and connection materials should be selected for the required temperature, pressure, cleaning chemicals, and hygienic conditions.
High-temperature and installation notes
Avoid rapid transitions between hot process liquid and cold calibration or cleaning solutions. Thermal shock can damage the glass membrane or seals even when both temperatures are individually within the stated range.
The 6 bar rating should not automatically be applied across the entire 0–130 °C range. Confirm the allowable pressure at the maximum operating temperature and ensure that the sensor, holder, seals, connector, and cable assembly share the required rating.
At elevated temperatures, pH glass ageing, electrolyte diffusion, reference contamination, and chemical attack can accelerate. Calibration and inspection frequency should therefore be based on the actual process and measurement risk.
For food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology applications, confirm wetted-material documentation, surface finish, seal materials, cleanability, biological safety, and any required hygienic or regulatory certification.
CIP compatibility must be checked against the cleaning chemical, concentration, temperature, pressure, and exposure time. SIP or autoclave compatibility requires a separately verified sterilization temperature and cycle profile.
