- Ask a Question
The HH6300HT is a dissolved oxygen sensor intended for hygienic and sterilizable bioprocess applications, including fermentation, pharmaceutical production, food and beverage processing, and animal or plant cell culture.
Its intended construction uses a 316L stainless-steel process body with a high-quality surface finish to support cleaning and reduce locations where process residue can adhere. Exact surface roughness, electropolishing, wetted materials, and hygienic certifications must be confirmed before making a formal hygienic-compliance claim.
A replaceable membrane cap is designed to maintain oxygen transfer and mechanical integrity during compatible high-temperature and high-pressure process cycles. The sensor is intended to withstand steam-sterilization exposure at 120–130 °C, but this sterilization limit should be kept separate from the normal dissolved oxygen measurement-temperature range.
A VP connector provides a detachable interface between the sensor and compatible transmitter cable. Before selection, confirm the sensor’s electrochemical or optical measurement principle, transmitter requirements, connector pinout, integrated temperature element, and required polarization conditions.
The HH6300HT is designed for installation in small bioreactors, fermentation vessels, and other process assemblies where insertion depth and available space are limited. The complete holder, seal, connector, and cable arrangement must match the vessel design and sterilization cycle.
Key benefits
- Sterilizable process construction: Intended for compatible steam-sterilization cycles from 120 to 130 °C.
- 316L stainless-steel body: Provides a mechanically durable process-contact structure for hygienic-style installations.
- Detachable VP connector: Supports connection to compatible dissolved oxygen transmitters and cables.
- Replaceable membrane cap: Allows renewal of the oxygen-sensitive assembly when performance declines.
- Compact installation options: Customizable insertion lengths support different vessel sizes and access points.
- Bioprocess positioning: Developed for fermentation, cell culture, food, beverage, and pharmaceutical processes.
Configuration options
- Insertion depth: Custom lengths available according to vessel geometry and holder requirements.
- Cable and connector: VP and other formats may be available after transmitter compatibility is confirmed.
- Extended cable: Cable lengths up to 30 metres, subject to signal type and transmitter requirements.
- Membrane cap: Replacement cap selected according to the sensor principle and sterilization conditions.
- Process connection: Confirm the required vessel port, seal geometry, and hygienic connection before ordering.
Sterilization and installation notes
A sterilization temperature rating does not necessarily mean that the sensor measures dissolved oxygen accurately during sterilization. State normal measurement conditions and sterilization-survival conditions separately.
CIP and SIP suitability depends on cleaning chemical, concentration, temperature, pressure, steam quality, exposure duration, cycle count, seal material, and cooling procedure. Avoid rapid thermal changes beyond the validated cycle because thermal shock can damage the membrane, seals, or internal components.
“Hygienic” requires more than a stainless-steel body. Confirm surface roughness, wetted-material certificates, elastomer compliance, cleanability, crevice and dead-leg control, process connection, biological-safety documentation, and any required EHEDG, 3-A, FDA, USP Class VI, or other certification.
Membrane-based sensors still require inspection, cleaning, calibration verification, and membrane-cap replacement. Protein, biomass, antifoam agents, oils, and cleaning residues can coat the membrane and slow oxygen transfer.
Calibration after sterilization should follow the validated process procedure. A sensor that survives a steam cycle may still exhibit zero or sensitivity drift requiring verification before the next production batch.
